Trauma
Trauma is a lasting impact we get from an experience or event that overwhelms an individual’s ability to cope, leading to emotional, psychological, or physical effects.
Examples of this are: Accidents or Natural Disasters: such as a car crash, earthquake, or fire.
Violence or Abuse: such as physical assault, domestic violence, or childhood abuse.
Loss: such as the sudden death of a loved one or a significant life change.
Witnessing Trauma: observing violence, war, or severe injury to others
Grief
Grief is the deep emotional response to loss, especially the death of a loved one. It involves a range of feelings like sadness, anger, and confusion. The grieving process is unique to each person, often involving stages like denial, anger, depression, and acceptance. It can affect both emotions and physical well-being, and healing takes time. This is considered "The Five Stages of Grief"
Denial: Difficulty in accepting the loss, feeling numb or in shock. Anger: Frustration, anger, or even blaming oneself or others for the loss. Bargaining: Trying to negotiate or make deals to lessen the pain ("If only I had...").Depression: Deep sadness, hopelessness, and withdrawal. Acceptance: Coming to terms with the loss and finding a way to move forward.
Low Self-Esteem
Low self-esteem refers to a negative perception of yourself, characterized by a lack of confidence and feelings of inferiority or worthlessness. People with low self-esteem often doubt their abilities, judge themselves harshly, and may have a poor sense of self-worth. This can affect various aspects of life, including relationships, work, social interactions, and overall well-being.
Common signs of low self-esteem include:Self-Criticism: Constantly being harsh or overly critical about oneself, often focusing on perceived flaws or mistakes.Fear of Failure: Avoiding challenges or new experiences due to a fear of not succeeding or being judged.Seeking Validation: Relying heavily on the approval or validation of others to feel good about oneself.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy, also known as counseling or psychotherapy, is a form of treatment where a person works one-on-one with a trained therapist or counselor to address emotional, psychological, or behavioral issues. It provides a safe and confidential space to explore personal challenges, gain self-awareness, and develop strategies for coping and personal growth.
The goal of individual Therapy is understanding and managing your emotions.Reducing stress, anxiety and depression.Followed along with healthier habits and coping skills.
Suicide Prevention
Before you think about suicide, think about what you can do to change everything. Suicide only brings pain to the ones that love you, talk to someone you love and ask for help. Because there is always someone who willing to lend out a hand. Seek professional if not your friends or family, this can be just as strong. Professional help specializes in giving you a greater understanding on what’s causing you to feel this way or even how to cope with it.
Avoid Isolation: Stay Connected: Make an effort to stay in touch with friends, family, or support groups. Isolation can worsen feelings of despair, so try to keep some level of social connection, even if it’s minimal.
Challenge Negative Thoughts: When negative or self-critical thoughts arise, try to challenge them with more balanced, realistic perspectives. For example, instead of thinking "I can't handle this," try "This is hard, but I can get through it step by step."
Focus on self care: Take Care of Your Physical Health: Get enough rest, eat nourishing food, and engage in gentle physical activity if possible.
Practice Mindfulness and Relaxation: Use techniques like deep breathing, meditation, or grounding exercises to help reduce overwhelming emotions.
Parental Neglect
Parental neglect is a form of child abuse where a parent or caregiver fails to meet a child's basic needs, either intentionally or unintentionally. It involves the absence of proper care, attention, and support required for the child's well-being, safety, and development. Neglect can be physical, emotional, educational, or medical.
Physical neglect is:Failing to provide adequate food, clothing, shelter, or hygiene.Leaving a child unsupervised for long periods, especially in dangerous situations.
Emotional Neglect:Ignoring a child's emotional needs, affection, or comfort.Failing to provide a nurturing and supportive environment
Parental neglect is a major set back onto any child, teen or even adult.Having a good role model is key for great character development.
If you are facing Parental neglect, remember that you’re not alone.Find a trusted adult, that can be a teacher, mentor or even another family member just find one and share what you’re going through, they may can help.Document what is happening around you, and see if you can get into therapy if needed.
